This week, our team brought together our frontline Community Based Volunteers (CBVs) for an intensive capacity-building session while mapping local conditions for our upcoming livestock interventions.
Before introducing our new rabbit pass-on scheme, we conducted a field survey across local homesteads to assess which rabbit breeds are already thriving evaluating heat tolerance, growth rates, and disease resistance to select hardy breeding stock adapted to local realities.
Rather than focusing on a single trade, our CBV training covered a comprehensive, multi-value chain package, integrated livestock Management, rabbit housing design using local materials, forage formulation, and disease prevention. Climate-Smart Agronomy, Soil health management, water conservation, and winter cropping techniques. VSLA management, record-keeping, and tracking member progress.
Equipped with localized data and multi-disciplinary skills, these CBVs are now ready to guide our producer clusters. When asset distribution is backed by trained community anchors, interventions stop being temporary projects and become permanent drivers of rural growth
