A Pathway From Subsistence to Resilience

Our work starts with a simple belief: rural communities can thrive when they are connected to inclusive markets, trade, and finance that create real income opportunities. Guided by a market-led and systems-based approach, we strengthen food and nutrition systems that build resilience and support long-term transformation of rural livelihoods.

THE CLiMB MODEL

Five Pathways Toward Resilience.

  • Capacity Building, Enterprise Structuring & Risk Reduction

Many smallholder farmers are seen as risky by markets and financial institutions because they operate in fragmented and uncoordinated systems. We change this by helping farmers organise, build skills, and work in clusters and aggregation models. This improves coordination, consistency, and trust in the market. As farmers become more structured and reliable, they are better able to access markets and finance as confident and bankable actors.

  • Livelihood Diversification & Income Resilience

We support households to move beyond depending on a single source of income. By diversifying their livelihoods, they become more stable, better able to withstand shocks, and more secure in both income and food access.

  • Innovation Adoption & Climate Resilience

We introduce practical and scalable innovations that help farmers increase productivity, add value, and adapt to climate change. This reduces risks in production while strengthening long-term resilience.

  • Inclusive Market Linkages & Value Chain Integration

We connect organised farmer groups to reliable markets, trade systems, and financial services. This helps them participate more effectively in competitive value chains and reduces uncertainty in selling their produce.

  • Nutrition, Food Utilisation & Behaviour Change

We improve how households use food, strengthen nutrition outcomes, and encourage positive behaviour change. This includes supporting a mindset shift toward self-reliance, self-worth, and the belief that rural households have the capacity to create their own solutions, building stronger, more resilient communities.
